Browlift
Do you feel your face and skin is ageing faster than you would like, would you like your eyes to provide a more youthful look to your face, are lines appearing across your face that create a displeasing look to the eye, then a browlift could offer the transformation you seek. During a browlift, the face muscles and tissues that cause the skin to droop are removed or altered to smooth the forehead, raise the eyebrows and minimise frown lines. Preparation The Mclean Academy will advise you on your preparation for a browlift surgery, this could include not smoking for a period leading up to and after the surgery. Smoking can affect the flow of blood and the healing properties of the body. We will review fully your current medication to ensure that it does not clash in any way with the intended browlift surgery. The procedure can be carried out with either a local or general anaesthetic, this can affect the advice given for preparation.
Surgery is performed on a outpatient basis and usually takes between 4 to 8 hours. Under normal circumstances you will be able to return home the same day. Please bring a family member or a friend with you, as well being able to transport you to and from the hospital, a familial face is always reassuring during any visit to the hospital. The surgery should last no more than 2 hours and you will be allowed to rest and recover prior to your discharge.
Recovery The nature of recovery and the after surgery effects on the patient differ between the type of surgery used for your brow lift.
The classic forehead procedure can cause some numbness and discomfort around the area of the incision. This is only a temporary experience and can be eased by the use of medication. You may be required to ensure your head remains elevated for a couple of days to keep any swelling down. Related swelling may occur around the face particularly the cheeks and eyes, as with the swelling of the head and around the incision this will disappear after a short period of time.
As the discomfort and numbness subsides you may experience itching to the scalp area. This can remain for about 6 months in some cases but will disappear. Most stitches will be removed within two weeks after surgery.
The Endoscopic forehead lift procedure can result in some numbness, incision discomfort and mild swelling. This type of procedure usually results in less after surgery discomfort.
By nature, all medical procedures carry an element of risk. While the majority of patients do not experience any complications, before embarking on any medical procedure, it is advisable to consult fully with the Mclean Academy so that our qualified staff can suitably discuss any risk or concerns that your procedure may pose. A brow lift is a surgical procedure with very minimal risks. |
